Brittany and Michael Present the Final Pioneer in Difference-in-differences: Alan Krueger!

In their final entry in the Pioneers in Difference-in-Differences series, Brittany and Michael introduce us to one of the greatest labor economists of the late 20th century, Dr. Alan Krueger. Their decision to include him is most likely in recognition of the this classic article on the minimum wage that is as well known for its research design as it is for its topic and findings. Dr. Krueger is part of the illustrious Princeton Industrial Relations Section tradition from the 1980s that seeded the causal inference revolution. He would spend his career at Princeton with breaks of public service in the Obama administration. Though I never met him, I have admired him for a very long time, and for the longest time the only names I would ever bet on winning the Nobel Prize were “Angrist, Card and Krueger”. It’s great to see Brittany and Michael recognizing such a fantastic person in their series on difference-in-differences.
