ChatGPT and Stories: Another Podcast Interview I Did With Adam Smith
This semester, for my history of economic thought class, but also for my “Issues in Economics” class, I have students doing podcast interviews with notable figures. The one catch is that the notable figures will be played by ChatGPT-4. So for history of economic thought, they have to interview four classical economists, starting with Adam Smith, and in “Issues” they have to interview someone who shares their own values (which we are using ChatGPT-4 to try to figure out what those are — long story) will help them contemplate entering a specific labor market and then move through that labor market into longer stretches of their life. Both classes have to do an interview with the person using ChatGPT-4 to play that person’s part, and then they have to actually record it at the end of the semester. They can have someone play the part of the person they talk to, they can act it out, they can use Amazon or Google’s AI for voice technology — it doesn’t matter. I’ve spaced out the podcas…
