CodeChella, and two other things
It’s Monday. Spring break is done. Classes are back. Boston is expecting another inch of snow. It’s slowly moving forward. I had a couple of newsy things to share for your Monday newsletter consumption.
First, though is my weekly-ish announcement regarding CodeChella. We are gradually ticking off the list of allotted tickets available. As of this morning, we’ve sold 83 out of a 100 available to us. So if you are intending to come, don’t wait! Secure your ticket now!
The dates: May 25–28, 2026, running 9am–5pm (GMT+1) with a 1.5-hour lunch break each day, held at the Auditorium at CUNEF Universidad.
Prices: Tickets are $220 for students, $300 for post-docs, and $500 for faculty. Discount codes for students and post-docs are available by emailing causalinf@mixtape.consulting. Tickets include the 4-day workshop plus morning coffee and pastries.
I will be talking about ways to consider using Claude code for research, though by the time the workshop arrives, everyone will be a power user.
Historically, the John Bates Clark award was given every other year to “that American economist under the age of forty who is judged to have made the most significant contribution to economic thought and knowledge.” Someone sent me this prediction of who might win this year. And I was playfully excited to see one of my favorite economists under 40, or alive, Peter Hull, currently capping it out with 25.4%.
Speaking of Claude Code, I read this one without realizing it was Claude code fan fiction.
So imagine being me, at 11:15pm, dozing off. Sending it excitedly to my friends saying “this is crazy if true” and in fact it was just satire.
Alright let’s all be on each others teams and root the other on as they grade exams and other stuff today! Have a great week!
