Nobel Prize and John Bates Clark Award Nomination
Well, the season is changing and it’s now officially that time of year: decorative gourd season is upon us! But that’s not all. It’s also that time of year when economists get prizes. A lot of people dislike that economics has prizes, but I kind of like it. In fact, I wish we gave out more prizes for more things. The #AEA5k that I help organize with Daniel Bergstresser, for instance, has tons of prizes for all kinds of nonsense. Guido Imbens was along with Cathy Buffington the winner of the Caplin-Nalebuff award given for the runner who finished the finishing line at the 64% percentile. Awards are great, and last year, I actually more or less correctly predicted the Nobel Prize winners too.
