Personal thoughts and links for Thanksgiving
Happy Turkey day! I woke up early so I thought I’d write a short round up for those wanting to hear a little news about OpenAI, the creator of chatgpt-4 as well as a personal update, too.
Tomorrow I have planned a short substack about Bob Lalonde, and then next week I mention the table of contents for my unconfoundedness chapter. I’m now preparing slides on marginal treatment effects at which point the instrumental variables material will be be complete. The heavy lift will be diff in diff, though.
Me, Brant Callaway, Andrew Baker, Andrew Goodman-Bacon and Pedro Sant’Anna have a new paper on diff in diff that is fairly exhaustive. It’s under review. I’ll post it when it’s accepted but in the meantime, doesnt that author list have a lot of Bs and Cs in it? Everytime I think about us coauthoring I think that. Funny how close I feel to those guys. I appreciate anyone and everyone who’s remained my friend for a good stretch, so to hold up my part of the bargain, I try to send as many long rambling posts and pictures from ChatGPT to our slack channel. Kind of like how a cat shows its love by bringing a dead bird to door. That’s probably what baker feels like when he sees another long message from me. Anyway, I’ll share that soon.
