I thought I’d just put down today some thoughts I was mulling over. Feel free to skip it. But this was a description of my typical last few days of life. I’m putting this under the paywall but first I’ll show you what you’re missing. This is what ChatGPT-4 thinks I look like. I have it saved on my desktop and labeled simply “handsome scott.png”. Needless to say it got some details wrong, but I appreciated the generous eyes nonetheless.
In what follows you’ll see me talk about how I use AI to teach two of my classes, how I’m learning more and more about the frontiers of causal inference by pitching in on two classes (one on machine learning with a friend, and one on research methods with a colleague). I also share some of my own personal experimentation with DALL-E 3 both with regards to new cover art possibilities for Season 3 of my podcast, which look absolutely stunning if I don’t say so myself, as well as many efforts I made recently to try my hardest to get DALL-E 3 to do what I tell it to do creating a picture of me on the back roads of Texas with my car, a tree, a cow, jeans, a blue shirt, my glasses, my stubble and just even something that almost resembles me. Handsome Scott was a nice gift though even if it was wildly off. So let’s dive in!
